BUNCHED PLANTS

Ammania (Ammania gracilis) Red/Pink leaves. Will range in color dependant on nutrient levels. Bright lighting intensify color.

Anacharis (Egeria densa/Elodea densa) An attractive, robust plant. The small leaves are strap-shaped, about 1" long and 1/4" wide.

Ancharis, Najas (Egeria najas) Very attractive with beautiful green drooping leaves, narrow stems.  

Baby Tears (Micranthemum umbrosom) Stays short and grows over the bottom of the tank.

Bacopa, Lemon Bacopa (Bacopa caroliniana) Leaves are succulent and relatively thick. Leaves are almost round, and are arranged oppositely on the stem. 

Bacopa, Variegated (Bacopa lenagera) Similar to B. Caroliniana but broader yellow foliage with green veins. No Sent. Best in container gardens and raised ponds where foliage can hang over edges.

Cabomba, Fanwort (Cabomba caroliniana) Very popular aquarium plant owing to its beautiful foliage. Most decorative when planted in groups.

Giant Hygro (Hygrophila corymbosa 'narrow leaf') An undemanding plant for large aquariums, which thrives in almost any conditions. Forms dark-green leaves and beautiful blue flowers.

Hygro, Blue (Hygrophila salcifolia) Plant has narrow, log, pointed leaves on sturdy, stiffly rising stalks. Ht. up to 2'.

Hornwort (Ceratophyllum demersum) Leaves bright green, stiff, coarse-textured, sessile, in whorls. "Coontail" appearance.

Ludwigia, Red (Ludwigia repens) Beautiful and easy to grow stem plant that will thrive in aquariums. The plant typically grows to a height of 12-20". The leaves are very variable and wide elliptic. 

Ludwigia Ovalis (Ludwigia ovalis) Beautiful pink-orange round leaves.

Ludwigia Peruensis (Ludwigia glandulosa (peruensis) A very attractive plant. Turning a very intense red when given a high light and nutrient rich substrate, turns green in low light.

Micro Sword, Giant (Lilaeopsis carolinensis) Midground plant similar to grass in appearance. 6-8"

Mint Charlie/Creeping Charlie (Micromeria brownei)   Small mat forming, creeping perennial, with slender rhizomes and a with pungent aromatic scent; stems often creeping and rooting at the nodes.

Moneywort (Bacopa monnieri) Plant has stalks with opposing, oval, sometimes slightly turned-over leaves.

Myrio, Brown/Green (Myriophyllum sp.)  This plant has a beautiful brown/green coloration, and with its fine leaves is very delicate looking.

Parrot's Feather (Myriophyllum aquaticum) Trails along the ground or water surface. It is easy to see why this plant is called parrot feather: its delicate, feathery, bright green leaves grow in profusion.

Pennywort, Brazilian (Hydrocotyle leucocephala) A plant that grows fast and adapts easily. Grow towards the light and the surface, where it will spread. It does not need to be rooted, but can be used as a floating plant which provides a hiding-place for young fish.

Rotala (Rotala indica) The Latin name means ''the plant with the round leaves''. It forms side shoots willingly, becoming compact and bushy. 

Rotala Wallichii  Fluffy, pink groupings which grow to the water's surface. 

Temple (Hygrophila corymbosa v. N. stricta) Large lance-shaped leaves along a thick, woody stem.  Prefers highly lit aquarium conditions.

Wisteria (Hygrophila difformis) A plant for beginners which can help create a balance in the aquarium from the start. Its rapid growth helps prevent algae because the plant absorbs a great number of nutrients from the water.

ANUBIAS

Afzellii (Anubias afzelii) Beautiful plant with long, narrow leaves. 4-6" tall.

Barteri (Anubias barteri var. barteri) Small, attractive plant which thrives in all conditions. 10-18" tall.

Coffeefolia (Anubias barteri var. coffeefolia) Leaves arch considerably between the leaf ribs, and the new leaves are red-brown. 6-10" tall

Congensis (Anubias congensis) Beautiful west African plant which grows spear-shaped bright green leaves. 5-6" Tall 

Frazeri (Anubias frazeri) Lancelet-shaped, emerald-green leaves. 1-2' Tall

Hastifolia (Anubias hastifolia) Long green hearth-shaped leaves. 10-20" Tall

Lanceolata (Anubias heterophylla 'Lancelata') A slow growing medium sized plant.  Leaves are 7-12" long; shiny green with dark veins.

Nana (Anubias barteri var. nana) Small, attractive plant which thrives in all conditions. 1-6" tall.

Nana, Petite (Anubias barteri var. nana petite) Lovely roundish, dark green leaves on small stems which branch from a horizontal rhizome. 1-2" Tall.

APONOGETONS

Boivinianus (Aponogeton boivinianus) Large, strong plant which is only suitable for large aquariums. In favorable conditions it can form large leaves up to 3' tall.

Capuronii (Aponogeton capuronii) Large, fluted leaves, making it a wonderful plant. Flowers frequently, making it a beautiful addition to any aquarium.

Crispus (Aponogeton crispus) Looks good in any aquarium with its light-green, transparent leaves, produces a mass of leaves.

Longiplumulosus (Aponogeton longiplumulosus) Large, fluted leaves, making it a wonderful plant which can be recommended for large aquariums.

Madagascar Lace (Aponogeton madagascariensis) Most distinct aquarium plant there is. Unique lacey, leaf skeleton. Ht. Up to 30"

Ulvaceous (Aponogeton ulvaceous) Stout plant. Leaves are translucent, bright green with a narrowed leaf base. The leaves are typical 8-20" long. 

Undulatus (Aponogeton undulatus (stachysporus)) Hardy and attractive, displaying two different types of foliage and often sending spiked blooms above the waters surface.

Wonder Bulbs (Aponogeton sp.) Brown fuzzy lumps that certainly don’t look much like plants. But, when they are placed in an aquarium, they start to produce leaf shoots within a few days, and before long, they are growing beautifully.

CRYPTOCORYNES

Balansae (Cryptocoryne balansae) Crispy velvet leaves. The color can vary from red-brown to light-green. Ht. Up to 2'.

Blassii (Cryptocoryne blassii) This plant will grow to more than 2' in height with leaves that are deep olive green on the top and a wine red color underneath. Truly an impressive plant.

Lucens (Cryptocoryne lucens)  Thick clumping aquarium plant almost grass-like. Great foreground specimen. Ht. 6-10".

Lutea (Cryptocoryne lutea) Green leaves are oval with blunt tips.

Petchii (Cryptocoryne petchii) Plant has narrow, red-brown, slightly wavy leave, mostly arched downward at the edges.

Pontederifolia (Cryptocoryne pontederifolia) Reddish purple tinge over the upper side of the leaves and slightly reddish underside.

Retrospiralis (Cryptocoryne retrospiralis) Thick root stock. The narrow leaves are 6-12" long. Dark green with wavy margins. 

Wendtii - Green (Cryptocoryne wendtii  (Green)) Plant has bright green, brown-stained, pointed leaves that are curled at the edges. Ht. up to 10". 

Wendtii de Witt - Red (Cryptocoryne wendtii de witt  (Red))   Similar to the green variety, but red-veined on the underside of the leaves.

FERNS

Bolbitis heudelotti (Bolbitis heudelotti) Water fern with very beautiful transparent green leaves. Ht. 6-15".

Java Fern (Microsorium pteropus) This plant reproduces by stem cuttings or from small plantlets that grow on the leaves. Ht. 15-20".

Java Fern (Windelov) Lacy (Microsorium pteropus v. 'Windelov'  (lace)) Triple-split edges on each leaf, which gives it a beautiful and dense bushy aspect as it grows.

Water Sprite - Indian Fern (Ceratopteris thalictroides) The finely branched leaves are very decorative and provide good contrast to other leaf shapes. Ht. 6-12".

Water Sprite - Lace leaf  (Ceratopteris siliquosa) An easy to grow aquatic fern with delicate, lacey leaves.  Color varies from light to dark green depending upon light conditions.

NYMPHAEACEAE

Banana plant (Nymphoides aquatica) Looks like a small bunch of green bananas. Round reddish green leaves.

Dwarf Aquarium Lily (Nymphaea stellata) Tuber with dark red/brown floating leaves.

Spatterdock, Cape Fear (Nuphar japonica) Light-green leaves with transparent sections in the leaf margins. Most water lilies form floating leaves quickly, but this plant can continue to form beautiful underwater leaves for many years.

Tiger Lotus (Red/Green) (Nymphaea zenkeri) Most graceful aquarium plant. It is a quite variable species and the leaf color may vary from bright green over red-brown to red-violet.

SAGITTARIA

Broadleaf (Sagittaria platyphylla) Ideal foreground plant for large aquariums or in the middle of smaller aquariums. It forms a slightly dispersed group with its runners. This is a robust starter plant. Ht. 5-15"

Dwarf (Sagittaria subulata, dwarf) Very well suited for the purpose of filling in "empty spaces" from middle to front of the tank. Ht. 5-8". 

Subulata - Narrowleaf (Sagittaria subulata) Ideal, undemanding foreground plant whose short runners form a compact group. Place individual plants 1-2" apart. In the aquarium it sometimes sends a long flower stem to the surface, and small white flowers unfold just above the water surface.

VALLISNERIA

Contortion - Giant Corkscrew (Vallisneria asiatica) Giant Twisted Very tightly spiraled, green, straplike leaves, up to 2' long.

Corkscrew (Vallisneria torta) Plant has green, ribbon shaped, twisted leaves which can grow up to 10" high.

Italian (Vallisneria spiralis) Plant has green, ribbon shaped leaves which grow up to 3' long.

Jungle - large, wide leaf) (Vallisneria sp.) Olive-green leaves grow long and narrow with saw-toothed tips.

Jungle, Dark Red (Vallisneria gigantea marmor) Typical, flat-leaved vallisneria with atypical burgundy color.

SWORDS

Amazon (Echinodorus sp.) Dark green color. A royal-looking centerpiece plant that is hardy.

Chain, Sword (Echinodorus sp.) Small foreground plant.  Runners spread round the aquarium.  

Grandifolius (Echinodorus grandifolius) Long stemmed sword with large, round, green leaves.

Indian Red (Eichonodorus 'Indian Red') Wavy redish-brown new leaves, matures to green leaves. Nice blast of color.

Kleiner Bar (Echinodorus Kleiner Bar) Good beginner plant that requires little attention.  A large, flat-leaved sword with green to rust colored leaves.  Reproduces easily by sending shoots that sink and grow spontaneously.

Melon (Echinodorus osirus) Leaves stemmed, lanceolata, slightly undated along the margins, green; young leaves are reddish.

Oriental (Echinodorus 'Oriental') The unusual transparent pink color of the new leaves makes the plant a specialty, offering the chance to create new colour contrasts in the aquarium. Ht. 5-10"

Ozelot - Green/Red (Echinodorus 'Ozelot') This plant has reddish brown leaves with black spots. The older leaves spots tend more to dark red. Ht. 7-14".

Radican (Echinodorus cordifolius) Young leaves are oval and become heart shaped as they mature. Can grow up to grow up to 2'.

Radican, Marble Queen (Echinodorus cordifolius 'Marble Queen') The color composition of the leaves is very special and goes from deep green over green to yellowish to produce a marbled leaf surface.

Red Flame (Echinodorus Red Flame) Striking leaf markings very similar to the marble queen, but with dominant red coloration.

Red Rubin (Echinodorus 'Red Rubin') Long red, brown and green leaves in its submerged state. This is a great background plant that will add a variety of color and texture to your aquarium.

Rosette (Echinodorus parviflorus 'Tropica') Compact rosette plant with thick green crinkled leaves.

Ruby -Red Melon (Echinodorus barthii) Decorative and beautiful solitary plant. Leaves change color from dark-red in the youngest leaves to dark-green in the oldest.

Ruffle (Echinodorus martii major) Beautiful sword with undulating leaves. Foliage is fresh green but darkens with age.

Uruguayensis (Echinodorus uruguayensis) Long, narrow, transparent, dark-green leaves, making it a very beautiful solitary plant for aquariums. The leaf length and width vary considerably.

TERRARIUM/BOG

Aluminum Plant (Pilea cadieri) Dark green leaves with silver markings between the veins. Ht. 6-12"

Acorus, Dwarf (Acorus pusillus)

Acorus, Variegated - Japanese Rush (Acorus gramineus variegatus)   Variegated leaf blades which are striped with white and green and fan upward from 6-12” tall.

Arrowhead, Gold Splash, Pink, Plum Splash, White (Syngonium sp.) Leaf size is intermediate and arrow-shaped. Leaf color is a brilliant, almost iridescent, golden yellow with prominent pink-red veins which offers an excellent contrast. 

Borneo Fern  (Trichomanes javanicum) Green to blue-green leaves with fringed edges, similar to the terrestrial fern. 

Brazilian (Spathiphyllum sp.)  The Brazilian Sword, a Rosette Plant, is from Tropical America and may grow to a height of 16".

Domino - Marbled Brazilian (Spathiphyllum 'Domino') The only variegated Spathiphyllum. This plant with dark green leaves has a vibrant color contrast.

Dragon's Tongue (Flame) Violet Ivy (Hemigraphis repanda) Red with narrow linear crenate leaves that are 2 ½" long. The leaves are satiny purplish green in color with a red underside.

Florida Ruffle - Cherry Stem Hedge (Alternanthera ficoidea v. cherry stem)  Leafy perennial that does best when grown in highly lit environments.  Glossy green leaves with a bright red stem.

Janet Craig - Pineapple Plant (Dracaena compacta)

 

Firm green spiked leaves that grow along a central stem.  Likes bright light.

Joseph's Coat - Hedge (Alternanthera ficoidea)  Low-growing plant. Broad ovate green leaves. 

Mondo Grass (Ophiopogon japonica) Evergreen grasslike clumps or mounds with rich dark green 1/8" leaf blades. Ht. 6-10"

Mondo Grass, Dwarf (Ophiopogon japonica v. 'Kyoto Dwarf') Short jade green leaves that are about 5" long. 

Palm, Bella (Chamaedorea elegans) Plant has light to dark green fern-fronds; new leaves sprout from under the mature leaves.

Purple Waffle (Hemigraphis exotica) Plant has strongly bulbous leaves, dark green on top and lilac-red underneath.

Silver Leaf (Hemigraphis colorata)

Sanderiana, Green (Dracaena borinquensis)

MISCELLANEOUS PLANTS

Baby Tears (Micranthemum umbrosom) Creeping foreground plant, lushly creating a carpet of tiny, light green leaves on short running stems. 2-3" (PORTION)

Baby Tears, Dwarf (Hemianthus callitrichoides) Creeping foreground plant, lushly covering the substrate in a carpet of tiny, light green leaves on short running stems. 1-2"

Barclaya (Barclaya longifolia)  Beautiful and distinctive solitary plant, available in green varieties with light-green leaves and pink/red underneath.

Cardinal Plant (Lobelia cardinalis 'Small form') Plant has dark green to reddish leaves. Can grow 2-12".

Crinum calamistratum (Crinum calamistratum) Narrow, wavy edged leaves which taper at the top...reminds you of an Octopus. Leaves are a beautiful dark green color.

Four Leaf Clover (Marsilea quadrifolia) Bright green upright foliage. The hardiest of all the clovers. Makes an excellent ground cover. Ht. 8-10".

Four Leaf Clover, Dwarf (Marsilea crenata) This aquatic groundcover reproduces fairly rapidly by sending runners, forming a dense green mat. Grows 2"' to 4" tall.

Azolla (Azolla caroliniana)

Duckweed (Lemna minor) Smallest flowering plant in the world. They have "budding pouches" on the edge of the leaf, from which grow new single-leafed plants.

Java Moss (Vesicularia dubyana) Grows willingly on any surface, so it is ideal for decorating stones and tree roots or concealing installations in the aquarium. Attach the plant with a piece of fishing line until it has gained a hold on the bottom.
